Waking up early, getting dressed in the morning for a long day at school, we would often look forward to attending classes in an interactive environment. And what’s more interactive than a storytelling class?! Our English classes were arguably the most story-centric lectures. We would read through works of different authors and poets as the teacher breaks down the likes of ‘blue curtains’ metaphors in the poem. And amongst other authors, Ruskin Bond is an author we have all come across during our school days. While we might disagree on how exciting or how boring waking up early in the morning was, we all shared a classroom – although in different parts of the country – reading and talking about Ruskin Bond stories as part of our curriculum. 1. The Room on the Roof
For readers who prefer autobiographies, The Room on the Roof is a semi-autobiography, partly inspired by Ruskin Bond’s life as a 17-year old living in the foothills of the Himalayas.
2. Angry River
One of Bond’s first children’s books, published in the 1970s, had a more toned down writing as the publisher requested a children’s story. So, for our young readers, we recommend Angry River.
3. A Season of Ghosts
